Acting for Camera with Alliance Theatre
Is your dream to perform on the big screen? This course is designed to help you dive into the unique skill of acting for a camera. You’ll perform on-camera acting exercises, sharpen your acting skills take after take, and receive individual feedback for your work. You’ll learn about close-ups, continuity, auditioning, and workshop scenes together while discovering what it takes to advocate for yourself on the job, how to work with your crew, and how to hit your mark.
This course takes place on the grounds of Trilith Studios, where you’ll not only have the opportunity to brush shoulders with the world’s top talents but also to feed off of the energy that ignites the creative passion in the Trilith ecosystem. At the culmination of this course, you’ll have the chance to showcase your talent in front of industry-leading casting directors, directors, talent agents, and more!

Instructor: Cait Cortelyou
Cait Cortelyou is an actor and producer based in Atlanta since 2020. She holds a BA in Theater from Columbia University in partnership with the Juilliard School, and graduated from The O’Neill’s conservatory program The National Theatre Institute, with training from Colman Domingo and the Royal Shakespeare Company. On camera, Cait produced and starred in the award-winning feature film Ask for Jane, which enjoyed a limited theatrical release in 2019. She has been seen on TV in Bull on CBS, and in a recurring role on Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick on HBO. Cait has spoken on panels for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the Hamptons International Film Festival, the New York Television Festival, and has taught masterclasses for the China Women’s Film Festival in Beijing, and the School of the New York Times at Lincoln Center. Since January 2023 Cait has been leading a weekly artist workshop called The Collective at Alliance Theatre. www.CaitCortelyou.com
