Ebony Blanding is a writer and director with deep Southern roots and a passion for telling stories that fearlessly delve into the journey of women and girls coming into their own power, often through a fantastical perspective.

Blanding has written and directed branded content for Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, documentaries for major artists, and multiple award-winning short films, including Levitate Levitate Levitate, streamed at Atlanta International Airport. Her commissioned period piece, Georgia Voting Rights, is playing in the state’s capitol.

Ebony’s project, titled “A Mess of Memories,” will be her first feature film and Trilith Institute Productions’ first major project.

“A Mess of Memories,” focuses on a matriarch’s hoarding obsession that threatens the family home, forcing her family into an uncomfortable reunion and healing journey.  The film explores the emotional complexities of ancestral trauma within a family, incorporating surrealist elements to create surreal dimensions. It portrays characters’ journeys in rebuilding themselves, confronting their past, and seeking ways to heal.
