Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • What is the Trilith Institute?
    • The Trilith Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the discovery, development, and professional advancement of storytellers who inspire the world.
  • How do Trilith Institute, Foundation, Town, and Studios differ?
    • While we all have the same mission – set the stage and enrich the lives of the story makers who inspire the world, we each play a different role. We at the institute focus on trying to bridge the gap for up-and-coming creatives trying to break into the above-the-line roles in the entertainment industry. We do this by providing professional education, created and led by current industry professionals, as well as by providing creative opportunities such as our Emerging Creative Residency and Creative Excellence Fellowship Grant.

  • Do you have payment plans?
    • Yes – we use a site called Cheddar Up. You can also find them linked in each course’s registration. (If there is not a link, this means there is not enough time for a payment plan to be completed before the beginning of the course.)
  • Are there any prerequisites for courses?
    • The only courses with prerequisites are Storyboarding for TV Animation and TV Writing II: The Outline is Your Map course. For the Storyboarding for TV Animation course, students should already have skill sets in drawing fundamentals (constructive figure drawing, perspective drawing, composition, etc.) and be familiar with working digitally. Enrollees will therefore submit at least one of their digital drawings to the email professionaleducation@trilithinstitute.org. For the TV Writing II: The Outline is Your Map course, students will need to have completed the preceding course, TV Writing I: Pre-Writing, Story, and Building the Puzzle.
  • What is the refund policy for courses and workshops?
    • For Classes: Students will receive a refund up until 1 month before the class begins. Once the start date of a course is within 1 month, students will receive a refund in the amount of one-half of their full payment for cancellations; 25% refund up to 1 week before class starts; and no refunds will be given 6 days prior and beyond the start of class. If the class doesn’t fill and must be canceled, you will be notified, and we will refund you the full amount of the class.
