DESCRIPTION:When: Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 PM\, August 12\,2026 – November 18\, 2026\nStudents will attain an essential understanding of the fundamentals of VFX and computer-generated animations. Students will be introduced to the major aspects of the VFX/Animation process\, from start to finish. Students will learn at a high level each of the following disciplines and how they are interrelated to each other: match moving\, modeling\, rigging\, animating\, texturing\, lighting/rendering\, FXs\, layout\, compositing\, and editing. They will be given the opportunity\, tools\, and guidance to create their own computer-generated media. \nThis class is perfect for aspiring visual storytellers\, creative minds\, and anyone passionate about bringing digital worlds to life. Whether you are a beginner looking to explore the exciting realm of VFX and animation or a budding artist seeking a comprehensive understanding of the entire production process\, this course is tailored to empower your artistic journey. \nPlease note: students do have graded assignments\, assessments\, and projects and will receive a final grade in this course. SUMMARY:Screenwriting Essentials I
DESCRIPTION:When: Tuesdays from 5:30-8:30 PM\, September 1\, 2026 – November 17\, 2026 \nAlfred Hitchcock said you need three things to make a film: a script\, a script\, and a script. Many professional creatives also subscribe to the philosophy that you can make a bad movie from a good script\, but you can’t make a good movie from a bad script. \nThe objective of this class is to acquaint you with the fundamentals and foundational techniques of screenwriting\, with an emphasis on three-act structure and characterization. Each student will complete a narrative outline and a script for a short film. Students will learn about professional standards and best industry practices through table readings\, one-on-one conferences\, and peer revision techniques. \nThis class is perfect for aspiring screenwriters\, storytellers\, and anyone with a passion for crafting compelling narratives. Whether you are a novice writer eager to explore the world of screenwriting or a seasoned writer looking to refine your skills\, this course is designed to provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of storytelling\, structure\, and character development. DESCRIPTION:When: Thurdays from 5:30-8:30 PM\, September 3\, 2026 – November 19\,2026 \nWant to transition your love of fashion and costumes to the film & television industry? Consider taking Introduction to Costumes! \nDeveloped by longtime costumer Hollis Smith\, whose credits include WandaVision\, The Walking Dead\, and Ms. Marvel\, and taught by Mia Nunnally whose credits include Ozark\, Stranger Things\, and Captain America: Civil War\, students will walk away prepared for entry-level work in the costume department. \nStudents will learn about Hollywood costume history and iconic industry designers; the costume office organizational structure; job roles and duties in various areas of the Costume Department; and the names\, uses\, and protocols related to various pieces of departmental equipment and tasks. Students will also learn how costumes and various film crafts relate to one another on a working production\, as well as how and why they all must operate in sync.
