SUMMARY:Acting for Camera with Alliance Theatre
DESCRIPTION:When: Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 PM \, September 3\, 2026 – November 19\, 2026 \nThis course\, created in partnership with the Alliance Theatre\, teaches students how to perform on-camera acting exercises\, sharpen their acting skills take after take\, receive individual feedback for their work\, learn about close-ups\, continuity\, and auditioning\, and take their first step toward the silver screen. Students will sharpen their on-camera acting skills\, develop their film acting technique\, create and build relationships\, motivate their scenes through positive expectations\, and perform scenes on camera. \nPut your film acting technique into practice\, find out what is expected on a film set\, workshop full-length film scenes\, and receive direction from experienced professionals. \nPlease note: students do have graded assignments\, assessments\, and projects and will receive a final grade in this course. Grades demonstrate a student’s ability to apply their understanding and mastery of concepts taught in this course. SUMMARY:Introduction to Costume Design
DESCRIPTION:When: Thurdays from 5:30-8:30 PM\, September 3\, 2026 – November 19\,2026 \nWant to transition your love of fashion and costumes to the film & television industry? Consider taking Introduction to Costumes! \nDeveloped by longtime costumer Hollis Smith\, whose credits include WandaVision\, The Walking Dead\, and Ms. Marvel\, and taught by Mia Nunnally whose credits include Ozark\, Stranger Things\, and Captain America: Civil War\, students will walk away prepared for entry-level work in the costume department. \nStudents will learn about Hollywood costume history and iconic industry designers; the costume office organizational structure; job roles and duties in various areas of the Costume Department; and the names\, uses\, and protocols related to various pieces of departmental equipment and tasks. Students will also learn how costumes and various film crafts relate to one another on a working production\, as well as how and why they all must operate in sync. In addition\, students will look at the importance of some non-traditional skills that benefit the department. \nPlease note: students do have graded assignments\, assessments\, and projects and will receive a final grade in this course. Grades demonstrate a student’s ability to apply their understanding and mastery of concepts taught in this course.
